Tour the beautiful campus of College of the Ozarks, just as well known as hard Work U. This 100 year old institution is a self-contained campus overlooking Lake Taneycomo at Point Lookout, MO. It is home to its own fire department, post office, dairy and mill operation, restaurant, hospital and the Clint McDade orchid collection. This 4 year college is unique in that it offers work scholarships to its students through with all tuition expenses can be met. Our tour will begin at the greenhouses, where students produce hundreds of plant varieties that are used in campus flowerbeds, as well as out in the community. Before departing we will visit the impressive and unique Keeter Center.

At the Dewey Short Visitor Center, we will view a short film showing the building of Table Rock Dam, followed by lunch under the big tent. After lunch there will be a guided lakeside tour touching on the history of the area. The remainder of your time at the park will be spent viewing the 12 gardens that have been landscaped and maintained by Master Gardeners of the Ozarks.

The exquisite high-rise luxury resort Chateau on the Lake has become a familiar landmark on the broad expanse of Table Rock lake. Aside from its state of the art facilities, it offers a 10 story garden atrium and magnificent view of Table Rock Lake. We will learn about the interior of the John Q. Hammons extravaganza, then proceed outdoors to take a guided tour of the gardens and terrace area where many weddings take place each year. Here we will be treated to an ice cream social.

Our last stop will be Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery, where more than a million trout are raised each year. View the trout holding tanks and learn about the spawning process. The natural setting of the hatchery is the biologically rich White River Valley, where abundant wildflowers and natural wildlife live together in harmony. The rocky bluffs overlooking Lake Taneycomo support glade species like the smoke tree and Ashe's juniper, which is found only in the Ozarks and one other area of the U. S.
